Responsibilities
Design rotating machines that can spin at tens of thousands of rpm
Perform FEA analysis of the components to determine the operating envelope
Perform rotor dynamics analysis, predicting resonance locations and types
Design passive and active magnetic bearing systems. Test, rapidly iterate, and characterize the bearing performance
Balance rotating machine prototypes using specialized balancer
Operate and characterize the performance of the rotating machine using accelerometers
Qualification
Required
Design rotating machines that can spin at tens of thousands of rpm
Perform FEA analysis of the components to determine the operating envelope
Perform rotor dynamics analysis, predicting resonance locations and types
Design passive and active magnetic bearing systems. Test, rapidly iterate, and characterize the bearing performance

Understanding Rotor Dynamics fundamentals
Expertise with SolidWorks
Expertise with Dyrobes or equivalent software
Expertise with FEA (including for rotating bodies)
Experience balancing rotating machines using commercial balancers
Understand the fundamentals of the calculations necessary for balancing
Python programming for data analysis
This position will require obtaining and maintaining DoD Secret clearance
