Recast is looking for a highly motivated and entrepreneurial Director of Engineering to help accelerate their engineering and product development practice. The role involves improving team culture, driving the adoption of AI tools, hiring new team members, and overseeing tech security practices.

Responsibilities

Improve upon our culture of shipping and accountability on the engineering team
Continue to drive adoption of AI tools for development and integration of AI-first workflows into the product
Hire a lot. We need to rapidly grow our software engineering team while still keeping the quality bar high and maintaining a culture of product and engineering excellence
Own our tech security practice and SOC 2 certification and compliance program

Required

Highly motivated and entrepreneurial mindset
Experience in improving culture of shipping and accountability on engineering teams
Ability to drive adoption of AI tools for development and integration of AI-first workflows
Experience in hiring and growing software engineering teams while maintaining quality
Ownership of tech security practices and SOC 2 certification and compliance programs
Familiarity with a range of technologies including Rails, AWS, and Kubernetes
Experience working with remote and globally distributed engineering teams
Ability to manage a large number of direct reports in a flat organization
Experience in inter-team collaboration for complex product delivery

Preferred

Familiarity with Ruby on Rails
Experience with AWS and/or cloud-first architectures
Knowledge of Kubernetes and distributed compute
Experience in building products with data science / machine learning / algorithmic components
