Responsibilities

Design and draft tooling concepts using 3D modeling software
Oversee tooling fabrication through tool requests with internal machinists or procurements with external vendors
Develop and iterate on tooling designs and manufacturing methods to improve quality and repeatability
Develop advanced manufacturing processes for next generation components and operate CNC mills to manufacture prototypes
Design and execute development workscopes independently and in teams to resolve fabrication issues and generate process improvement ideas
Communicate the results of development workscopes by authoring detailed reports documenting areas of success, concern, and opportunity
Participates and/or leads project teams to solve problems or initiate new projects
Performs other duties as assigned

Required

Must possess a minimum of 15 years of relevant manufacturing experience
Must be proficient in 3D modeling and component design
Must have prior experience with CNC mills and other machining equipment
Willingness to learn new technologies and skills is an absolute must
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a collaborative design team is required
Must be highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail
Proven analytical and creative problem-solving abilities is required
Good communication skills, both written and oral, are a must
Must be a U.S. citizen with no dual citizenship
Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) clearance
