Manager Business Development & Events

Sonoma Raceway is a prominent organization involved in community engagement through its Speedway Children’s Charities department. They are seeking a Development & Events Manager who will oversee fundraising events, manage donor relationships, and facilitate community partnerships while ensuring efficient project management and volunteer coordination.

Responsibilities

Prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously and follow through on issues in a timely manner
Identify new revenue streams (monthly giving, planned giving, peer-to-peer campaigns, online giving, etc.)
Create meaningful donor experiences, tours, and behind-the-scenes opportunities
Work directly with SCC Director to oversee large fundraising events (Catwalk for Causes, Annual Gala, Golf Tournament, etc.), from concept through execution
Bring creative thinking and past campaigns to SCC and help implement throughout the year
Assist SCC Director in cultivating, solicit, and steward individual donors, corporate partners, and foundations
Develop donor recognition and stewardship programs to ensure long-term engagement
Research prospective donors and funding opportunities
Build, connect and strengthen relationships with donors, and community partners
Facilitate new donors to SCC and share our mission
Assist in maintaining donor database/CRM and track all touchpoints, once created
Prepare reports and financial data including invoices and payments, as well as performance of other fiscal duties
Recruit, train, schedule and supervise a diverse group of volunteers in a variety of situations
Supervise the workflow of interns and provide assignment and direction
Prepare agendas, record minutes and arrange meetings of the committees and Board of Trustees
Oversee the flow of the pertinent data through the established grant process
Assist in all events produced by SCC
Manage any assigned events

Required

The ability to interact with staff (at all levels) in a fast-paced environment, often times under pressure, remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient, with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality is crucial to this role
Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, strong decision-making ability and attention to detail are equally important

Willingness to work with teammates across the entire organization to deliver measurable results
Experience in administrative support
Excellent time management skills
Proven event planning experience
Proficiency in basic software programs (MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Google Docs, Zoom, Outlook and Canva
Knowledge of non-profit organization best practices and ethics
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
Willingness to work a non-traditional schedule when requested, including but not limited to race weekends and SCC special event
Willingness to travel through Speedway Motorsports to support Speedway Children's Charities, especially NC Chapters, as needed
Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs
Ability to walk, stand for long periods of time, climb stairs, stoop and bend
Ability to move quickly from one area to another in a safe manner

Preferred

Working knowledge of Salesforce is preferred
Experience successfully creating and/or modifying processes
