Responsibilities
Provide assistance to the cardiologist or cardiac surgeon in performing diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization and angiography procedures, measuring cardiovascular parameters such as cardiac output, blood flow velocity, cardiovascular dynamics, cardiac electrophysiology parameters, intracardiac shunt detection, valve flow/valve area determinations, intracardiac pressure measurements, oximetry determination, cineangiocardiography, and the measurement and calculation of cardiac function indices
Clinical expertise and knowledge of unit are such that complex patient management and physician issues are resolved independently
Serves as a role model to others by assuming the role of the team leader, responsibilities of a preceptor, cross-trains to other areas and provides education to the community and department
Actively participates in the orientation and training of new employees and students
Demonstrates proficiency in complex clinical skills to include; IABP, stents, DCA, complex PTCA's, Alblations and Pacemakers
Demonstrates proficiency in cardiac anatomy and physiology, correlating pressure wave forms and rhythm analysis
Proficient in patient assessment, monitoring and sterile technique as required
Assists in the maintenance and effective use of all equipment and supplies in the clinical areas
Maintains patients’ confidential records, reports and files
Responds appropriately and timely to patients, physicians and other customer’s needs
Demonstrates competence in performing critical skills to include appropriate delivery of care according to the age-specific needs of the entire life span
Six (6) credit hours of providing inservices per year
Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Must hold current registration as a CCI Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) and/or CCI Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) and/or ARRT RT(R) - preferably with a VI or CI category designation
Current BLS and ACLS certifications
6 (six) months experience within an invasive cardiac catheterization laboratory that performs invasive cardiac catheterization and associated procedures
Education clinical experience for certification and/or licensure is acceptable
