Manager, Learning & Development

UL Research Institutes is dedicated to advancing safety science research and is seeking a Manager, Learning & Development. This role is responsible for designing, developing, and delivering learning solutions that enhance organizational capability and support a culture of continuous learning.

Public Safety

Responsibilities

Conduct needs assessments to identify organizational learning priorities, skills gaps, and development opportunities
Design and develop training programs, curricula, and learning pathways aligned with organizational goals
Collaborate with external vendors, training partners, and consultants to source, customize, and deliver high‑quality learning solutions
Lead the rollout of in-person or blended learning programs, e-learning modules, micro‑learning, and other innovative approaches and tools
Facilitate training programs, leadership development sessions, and team‑building programs for leaders and employees
Collaborate with HR business partners and other leaders to develop, manage, and/or support talent development and succession planning processes
Deliver coaching to individuals and teams to enhance performance, engagement, and collaboration
Measure program effectiveness and continuously refine learning programs to ensure relevance, accessibility, and impact
Contribute to other HR and organization-wide initiatives as required

Required

Bachelor's degree is required preferably in business, organizational development, or related field; advanced degree preferred
Six or more years of progressive experience in learning and organizational development
Proficiency in MS Office is required
Positive and collaborative interpersonal skills to work effectively with leaders and colleagues across the organization
Ability to operate at a strategic and operational level, including attention to detail and willingness to both lead the work and execute
Excellent written and oral communication, facilitation, and presentation skills, with enthusiasm to engage leaders and employees with learning initiatives, and the mission and strategy of the organization
High degree of curiosity to learn about the mission and impact of the organization and the areas of specialization of its professionals
Problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to summarize and communicate complex ideas in concise and compelling ways, setting high standards for the function
Responsiveness and a sense of urgency, with focus on accountability for both outcomes and process improvement for the short and long term

Preferred

Experience working with scientific research, academic or research institutions, and experience working with public policy, nonprofit, and/or mission driven organizations are desired
Experience with Workday LMS is a plus
