Mechanical Engineer I

They are seeking a Mechanical Engineer I to support the NSF OPAL research program by designing and developing advanced mechanical systems and contributing to various engineering responsibilities.

Responsibilities
Develop conceptual and detailed designs of mechanical parts and assemblies in support of the NSF OPAL project and other ME Group initiatives
Support research-focused mechanical development, including prototype design, integration, and iterative refinement
Provide supporting engineering and safety analyses as required
Prepare materials for engineering design reviews and technical discussions
Generate technical drawings in compliance with applicable standards and internal processes
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including engineers, scientists, and technicians
Work both independently and as part of a project team, balancing research and operational priorities
Qualification
Required
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME)
1 year of relevant experience required or equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred
Advanced beginner proficiency with CAD software
Familiarity with finite element analysis (FEA) tools
