Responsibilities
Coordinates stroke services/systems and protocols to ensure compliance with appropriate governing agencies. Demonstrates excellence in practice through full role functions: practitioner, educator, consultant, and leader
Develops and reviews policies and procedures in relation to stroke care of patients. Develops and implements stroke protocols, participates in stroke patient rounds to identify issues and evaluate solutions
Serves as a liaison for MHS with pre-hospital providers, other stroke centers, tertiary centers, regional hospitals, and community and government agencies. Develops and maintains quality improvement to obtain objective data for overall analysis of the stroke program and development of improved methods of care to ensure quality stroke care
Actively participates and represents MHS in local, state, regional, and national organizations that support stroke patient care
Assists in monitoring quality and identifies areas for improvement in the care or protocols
Manages the orientation and training, staff development, problem resolution, and evaluating protocol performance
Responsible for stroke education activities carried out by the MHS
Qualification
Required
Graduate of a school of nursing with a Master's degree preferred
Minimum three years of hospital nursing experience in Critical Care or Emergency nursing required
Must have recent experience and proficiency with computer databases, word processing, and spreadsheet programs
Current license to practice professional nursing in the State of Texas
Preferred
NIH Stroke Scale certification
