Responsibilities
Supervises the daily activities of the Sterile Processing Department and employees
Has authority to conduct interviews, make hiring decisions, facilitate orientation, handle terminates, and conduct performance evaluations
Engages in staff acknowledgement and implements corrective action when necessary
Works with repair vendors to maintain instrumentation and orders replacements as needed
Collaborates with repair vendors to maintain instrumentation, orders replacements as needed, and manages the department’s inventory of supplies and implants
Creates staff schedules
Able to perform all duties of Sterile Processing Tech
Works with Infection Prevention, Quality, and OR to maintain Quality standards
Participates in meetings and committees as needed
Works with Educator to oversee staff education and competencies
Monitors and reports Productivity and budget variance
Reports issues/concerns to Service Leader and/or Service Executive
Qualification
Required
Minimum 2 years' experience in Sterile Processing department required
Certified Sterile Processing & Distribution Technician (CSPDT) certification or Certified Register Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification or successful completion of Surgical Technology training program, or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) certification with instrumentation experience required
Preferred
High School Diploma preferred
One year supervisory experience preferred
Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred
