Harris County is offering a Step-Up Internship Program for high school seniors and current college students to gain experience while serving the community. Interns will work on various assignments in different departments, providing clerical support and engaging with the public.

Required

Be 18 years old at the time of application submission
Be a high school senior or currently enrolled in a college/university or in a trade / technical program
Work in a cooperative manner to achieve goals set by the Workforce Division staff or the field supervisor
Ability to answer and direct phone calls in a friendly and professional manner
Advanced computer skills using Microsoft Office Suite with the ability to learn new systems as needed
Ability to problem solve
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work well with all levels of management, staff, and other departments as well as a diverse group of constituents
Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize work
Maintains a professional appearance and demeanor at all times
Ability to multi-task
Maintain discretion and confidentiality
Maintain a valid Texas class C driver's license as needed per individual department and have a good driving record
