International Student Advisor

Responsibilities

Serve as SEVP Designated School Official (DSO) for international students and their dependents which includes evaluating financial/other documents, issuing I-20s, performing administrative updates/actions in SEVIS (e.g. registration, reinstatement, change of status, extensions, termination, CPT, OPT, on-campus work, Reduced Course Load, etc.)
Advise international students on immigration policies and procedures as well as clarify steps necessary to maintain status and potential consequences for violations of status
Assist students with their transition to Baylor and the U.S. and refer to appropriate resources on-campus and within the local community
Provide training to campus staff and faculty regarding the international student experience (regulations and cultural adjustments)
Collaborate and communicate with campus partners to provide a welcoming atmosphere for international students (e.g. Undergraduate Admissions, Graduate School, Advising, Community Living & Learning, Registrar’s Office, Student Life, Athletics, etc.)
Stay current on immigration policy and procedures including SEVIS administrative tasks as well as current events in international education through ongoing training, conference attendance and reviews of government policy updates
Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor’s mission
Ability to comply with university policies
Maintain regular and punctual attendance

Required

Bachelor's Degree
Minimum one year of professional work experience
U.S Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident
All applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis

Preferred

Knowledge of US immigration regulations affecting non-immigrants in F-1 and J-1 status
1-2 years of experience as a Designated School Official (DSO)
Experience supporting or advising diverse and international student population
