Responsibilities

Plan, layout, and perform a wide variety of complicated carpentry work to drawings, instructions, and blue prints
Measure, cut, and shape wood, plastic, and other materials as needed using a variety of hand & power tools
Constructing building fixtures, structures, inside trim, sheetrock, framing walls, tiling, building stairs, handing doors, installing windows, etc
Work in a team environment with or without assistance from other carpenters and/or construction laborers
Maintain a safe work environment by observing and following all safety standards and procedures; complying with OSHA and General Electric standards
Perform other duties as required

Required

High School Diploma or equivalent education (GED)
2 years of carpentry experience including but not limited to: framing walls, tiling, constructing stairs, hanging doors, installing doors & windows, hanging sheetrock, and installing counter tops & cabinets
Ability to work from drawings and schematic diagrams, read and interpret complex technical manuals and materials, and use shop math
Ability to work with associated power tools and measuring equipment
Requires experience with the constructing, repairing, and installation methods used in carpentry and construction projects
Ability to lift, move, and manipulate fixtures and hardware up to 40 lbs. (with or without reasonable accommodations)
Ability to work in confined areas, work off ladders, platforms, and heights

Preferred

Graduation from a Vocational High School program and/or an accredited program specializing in carpentry
5 years of carpentry experience including but not limited to: framing walls, tiling, constructing stairs, hanging doors, installing doors & windows, hanging sheetrock, and installing counter tops & cabinets
Experience working in an industrial and manufacturing environment
Familiar with industrial and Massachusetts regulations
Knowledge and understanding of safety rules in an industrial setting
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Possess strong mechanical abilities
Solid understanding of computers & technology along with the willingness to use application software and troubleshoot problems
