Electrical Engineer – Mid Level (Hybrid)
Barr Engineering Co. is seeking an electrical engineer to join their team in Ann Arbor or Grand Rapids, Michigan, or Minneapolis, Minnesota. In this hybrid role, you will provide electrical engineering expertise, manage projects, and mentor less-experienced staff while collaborating with multidisciplinary project teams to meet client needs.

Responsibilities
Technical knowledge: design and analysis will include preparing plans and specifications, writing reports, and developing cost estimations as well as the design of power and controls from the ground up. The work will be related to industrial processing facilities, power plants, mining facilities, and municipal water and wastewater facilities
Project management: proposal development including defining work scopes, deliverables, schedules, and budgets. Assist with planning, coordinating, and executing projects. Help ensure project milestones are met and provide regular updates to team members and clients
Staff development: support the growth and development of team members
Collaboration: build and sustain strong relationships with clients and internal teams. Collaborate across disciplines to align technical approaches with client goals while contributing to a positive, inclusive team culture
Qualification
Required
Education: bachelor's degree in electrical engineering
Experience: at least 5 years of related experience working in a design capacity on projects directly related to job responsibilities described above
Licenses/certifications: Professional Engineer (PE) certification or ability to obtain within one year
Software: Microsoft Office
Driver's license: possession of a current, valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship from Barr Engineering, now or in the future
Preferred
10+ years of related experience
Experience with AutoCAD
Working knowledge of codes, standards, laws, and regulations applicable to the project assignments described above
Demonstrated project organization and management skills
Experience with SKM Power Tools or E-Tap software for coordination and arc flash studies
Client-relationship and business-development skills
Experience with Rockwell Automation/Allen Bradley PLC and HMI programming software
Experience with start-up and commissioning of industrial projects
