Chief Engineer
Bartell Hotels is San Diego's largest independent hotel owner-operator, dedicated to exceptional hospitality and community engagement. Responsibilities
Maintains hotel in accordance with maintenance schedule by assigning and supervising maintenance staff
Schedules complete workweek coverage while remaining within budgeted guidelines
Coordinates and prioritizes the distribution of repair-maintenance orders and planned-maintenance orders
Checks and monitors the completed work in order to ensure it is completed
Develops preventative maintenance schedule for all equipment in all departments such as laundry, kitchen, swimming pool etc
Completes preventative maintenance schedules for equipment in the building including chillers, cooling towers, air handling units and fans, pumps, automatic control systems etc
Ensures that equipment is operated effectively and efficiently by directing and supervising the operation of all running equipment
Maintains routine reports by recording daily meter readings and interpreting daily log sheets
Ensures that all the applicable requirements are being complied with by maintaining contact with local authorities such as fire brigade, electricity suppliers, and the Health Department
Leads our Risk Management Program, becoming familiar with all policies and procedures and improving as needed
Improves the effectiveness and efficiency of the operation of the department and/or hotel whenever possible
Maintains safe working conditions within department and hotel, insuring that all employees follow safety rules and procedures
Utilizes leadership skills and motivation techniques in order to maximize employee productivity and satisfaction of direct reports
Keeps General Manager promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance
Qualification
Required
Experience in managing ongoing preventative maintenance programs
Ability to supervise maintenance staff
Experience in scheduling workweek coverage within budgeted guidelines
Ability to coordinate and prioritize repair-maintenance orders and planned-maintenance orders
Experience in checking and monitoring completed work
Ability to develop preventative maintenance schedules for all equipment in various departments
Experience in completing preventative maintenance schedules for building equipment including chillers, cooling towers, air handling units, fans, pumps, and automatic control systems
Ability to ensure effective and efficient operation of all running equipment
Experience in maintaining routine reports by recording daily meter readings and interpreting daily log sheets
Ability to maintain compliance with local authorities such as fire brigade, electricity suppliers, and the Health Department
Experience in leading a Risk Management Program
Ability to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the operation of the department and/or hotel
