Planner I - Regional Transport (Planning & Development)
Shelby County Crime Victims & Rape Crisis Center is focused on developing and implementing transportation planning programs in the Memphis region. The Planner I will assist in coordinating various transportation planning functions, working closely with public transportation providers and local governments to implement federally funded projects.
Civic & Social Organization
Responsibilities
Prepares and coordinates Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) functions, long range transportation planning, bike ped planning, transit planning, freight planning, travel demand forecasting (TransCAD), Geographic Information System (GIS) analysis, and performance-based planning
Develops and presents technical information to a wide variety of audiences as related to transportation planning
Collects, analyzes, and interprets social and statistical data for various planning and area studies related to transportation planning
Prepares maps, charts, models, sketches, and other graphic and visual presentations to illustrate study findings
Attends and conducts MPO planning meetings and responds to public inquiries in person, on the phone, or in writing
Conducts research on transportation related legislation and policies
Assists with research and data analysis for special projects
Prepares summaries, narrative statements, and analyses of the pertinent technical facts reported in project studies
Performs other related duties as required or directed
Qualification
Required
Two (2) years of experience in transportation planning, or urban planning
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in transportation, urban planning, engineering, environmental science, landscape architecture, geography, or closely related field
PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED
Must possess a valid Tennessee driver's license or secure one upon date of employment
Preferred
Master's degree from an accredited university in transportation, urban planning, engineering, environmental science, landscape architecture, geography, or closely related field
