Art Tenure Track Faculty - Ceramics
Olympic College is inviting applications for a tenure-track Professor of Art specializing in ceramics, starting in Fall 2026. Responsibilities
Serve as the Ceramics area head, overseeing curriculum development, course scheduling, and adjunct faculty training. Manage part-time employees, student workers or work-study positions, community volunteers, coordinate supply budgets, and ensure the maintenance of ceramics facilities and equipment
Oversee the 3D area of the Art department, including sculpture and mold-making
Maintain an active professional practice through artistic production and scholarly research. Participate in exhibitions, presentations, and other field-specific activities that enhance professional visibility and engagement
Administer and oversee the program's operations, including curriculum development, instructional methods, scheduling, and assessment
Mentor new faculty and provide feedback to the program evaluation process
Coordinate with Dean's faculty recruitment, training, and professional development
Implement and evaluate program policies and procedures to ensure alignment with accreditation requirements
Conduct self-assessments and prepare for external reviews and accreditation site visits
Oversee and participate in local events related to student recruitment and any other activities related to the OC Visual Arts program and community outreach
Collaborate with faculty to develop, review, and revise the program's curriculum to support current industry standards and best practices
Teach evening, distance, and branch campus courses when required
Provide quality teaching, including related preparation, grading, and record keeping
Provide class syllabi to students enrolled in classes by the first day of classes and to the division office as requested
Identify individual learning needs of students and make appropriate adjustments in learning environments and activities
Provide student advising for career/academic pathways, mentoring, and support
Contribute to the development of the composition curriculum and student learning outcomes
Contribute to the assessment of student learning and program outcomes annually
Punctual communication with students, faculty, staff, and administrators
Maintain physical office hours for student consultation
Attend faculty, department, and division meetings and serve on college committees
Serve on appropriate college and community committees
Perform other related duties as assigned and/or required
Qualification
Required
Possess an MA degree or higher from an accredited institution
Established record of achievement in ceramics, demonstrated through exhibitions and projects in venues relevant to the candidate's practice
Strong proficiency in contemporary art theory and art history
Proven experience teaching and mentoring students from diverse backgrounds
Preferred
MFA in Ceramics, Art, or a related field, with expertise in a diverse range of ceramic techniques
Community college teaching experience
Have three years of experience in higher education as an instructor in a Ceramics program
Experience with curriculum development and Canvas LMS
