2+ years expEpitec is seeking an HLM (Handles, Locks & Mechanisms) Design and Release Engineer to support our automotive client. In this role, you will design, develop, validate, release, and implement HLM components for vehicle closures while guiding suppliers and ensuring compliance to requirements.

Responsibilities
Lead design, development, validation, and release of HLM components
Manage suppliers to meet cost, weight, timing, and performance targets
Ensure compliance with SDS, Design Rules, and regulatory requirements
Evaluate packaging, feasibility, NVH, water management, craftsmanship, crash, and manufacturing considerations
Perform and review GD&T layouts, CAE, stack‑ups, dynamic simulations
Conduct Technical Design Reviews and create/present technical presentations
Release and update parts in Teamcenter, WERS, FEDEBOM
Develop DFMEAs, SCCAF, Boundary Diagrams, P‑Diagrams, DVP&Rs
Lead Failure Mode Avoidance design reviews
Support sourcing, ESOW, cost reviews, and PPAP activities
Define prototype requirements and support plant builds/issue resolution
Support root‑cause problem solving (8D, 5Why) and corrective actions
Partner with STA and cross‑functional engineering teams
Travel to suppliers and North American plants as needed
Qualification
Required
CAD Design (CATIA, 3DX, TCE)
Mechanical Engineering fundamentals
Product Design & Development
PowerPoint and technical communication
Root Cause Analysis
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
2+ years engineering experience (design, development, or launch of mechanisms)
CAD capable + familiarity with CAE tools
Ability to manage multiple issues and work in fluid environments
Strong communication, initiative, and prioritization skills
Ability to travel domestically/internationally
Proficient with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Preferred
SPC, Statistics, PFMEA, PPAP
DFMEA / PFMEA / SCCAF experience
GD&T and manufacturing processes
Problem‑solving with 8D, 5Why
Mechatronics/software literacy
Knowledge of materials and closure systems
Latching or closure systems design & release
PPAP/phased PPAP
Six Sigma principles
Ability to solve complex system issues
