Electrical Engineer

Responsibilities

Translate user needs, clinical requirements, and business objectives into clear, actionable electrical engineering requirements and specifications
Design, develop, prototype, and troubleshoot analog and digital circuits for embedded medical device systems
Lead PCBA ideation, concept generation, schematic design, layout support, prototyping, manufacturing support, and failure analysis
Develop and debug embedded electrical systems using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other lab test equipment
Address signal integrity, EMC/EMI, ESD, and power integrity considerations at the board and system level
Collaborate closely with mechanical, firmware, systems, quality, manufacturing, and external partners
Support design controls, verification and validation activities, and regulatory documentation
Provide technical leadership, contribute to design reviews, and support cross-functional decision-making

Required

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field (advanced degree preferred)
Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in an R&D-focused electrical engineering role
Strong experience in analog and digital circuit design
Experience with embedded electrical system design
Demonstrated experience with PCBA development, including design, prototyping, manufacturing support, and troubleshooting
Proficiency debugging complex electrical systems using oscilloscopes and other lab tools
Solid understanding of board-level PCB design and signal integrity
Proven ability to work effectively across disciplines with internal and external partners
Strong collaboration skills, technical leadership capability, and ability to resolve complex technical challenges

Preferred

Experience evaluating design concepts through hand calculations, modeling/simulation, benchtop testing, and in vivo testing
Experience with rigid-flex and flex PCBAs
Experience integrating and controlling DC motors (brushed, brushless, servo)
Familiarity with communication protocols such as SPI, I2C, UART/USART, USB, Bluetooth
Proficiency with Cadence and/or Altium for schematic capture and PCB layout
Experience designing for EMC/EMI, EFT, and ESD compliance
Knowledge of applicable medical device standards, including IEC 60601-1 and IEC 60601-2-2
Experience with design for test, manufacture, and assembly (DFT/DFM/DFA)
Programming experience in C, C++, Python, LabVIEW, or similar
Prior experience working within design control frameworks in regulated environments
