Community Based Behavioral Health Internship: Cincinnati, OH
National Youth Advocate Program is accepting internship applications for their Behavioral Health team for the Summer 2026 and Fall 2026 semesters in the Cincinnati region. This internship provides hands-on experience working with youth and families, including providing mental health services and coordinating community-based services.

Responsibilities
Providing appropriate individual, group, and family mental health services, case management, transportation, and other professional services, meeting or exceeding established outcomes thresholds on behalf of persons served
Traveling as needed, to provide community-based services to youth and families in compliance with organizational, contract, and regulatory requirements
Completing all required documentation in a timely manner
Completing all required training in a timely manner
Coordinating and monitoring services for the youth and family in the community, for mental health, medical, educational, psychological, vocational, and social services
Regularly reviews and modifies youth-based plans to assure consistent progress and success on written plan goals
Assisting in family reunification and/or stabilization efforts with the youth's primary family or other permanent living arrangements consistent with the youth's case plan
Actively participates in the weekly supervision process
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or comparable Human Services field from an accredited institution
Must be enrolled in either a Master of Social Work or Master of Clinical Counseling program from an accredited College or University
An internship or field placement must be a requirement by the institution
Upon the completion of the internship, the individual would receive credit towards their pursued degree
Must be 21 years of age at the start of the internship
LSW, SWT, or CT licensure required
Valid driver's license
Reliable personal transportation
Good driving record
Minimum automobile insurance coverage of $100,000/$300,000 bodily injury liability
Preferred
Experience working in direct service with youth and families is strongly preferred
A willingness to work flexible and non-traditional hours
Capacity to remain objective and professional in all areas of job function
Capacity to be flexible and responsive to youth served, foster caregivers, system partners, and internal customers
Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, smart phones and tablets, as well as software including word processing, spreadsheet and database programs
