Firmware Engineer

Responsibilities

The Firmware Engineer will design, develop, and debug firmware for embedded systems and microcontrollers
This role will collaborate closely with hardware, software, and systems engineers to define system requirements and architecture
The engineer will write efficient, maintainable, and well-documented code in C/C++ and other embedded languages, develop and execute unit and integration tests, and perform system validation
Responsibilities also include troubleshooting and resolving firmware issues during development and in production, optimizing firmware for performance, memory, and power consumption, supporting manufacturing, quality, and field teams with firmware updates and root-cause analysis, and maintaining version control while following coding and documentation standards

Required

A bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field is required
Experience in embedded or firmware development
Strong proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems
Experience with microcontrollers
Experience with hardware interfaces such as SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, and USB
Familiarity with debugging tools, standard testing equipment and JTAG/SWD
Experience using version control systems such as Git

Preferred

Experience with Linux-based embedded systems
Knowledge of wireless protocols such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi
Experience with boot loaders, firmware updates, and device security
LabVIEW knowledge is a plus
Understanding of applicable regulatory standards such as ISO, IEC, or FDA
