TruLegal is a top-tier AmLaw 100 firm seeking a senior litigation attorney for the Of Counsel position specializing in Discovery and Complex Litigation. This role involves managing complex litigation matters, leading discovery strategies, and acting as a second-in-command to practice leadership.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage complex litigation matters from inception through resolution (pleadings, motion practice, discovery, depositions, pretrial, trial support, and settlement)

Own discovery strategy and execution: preservation, collections, ESI protocols, custodian management, privilege issues, and production strategy

Serve as lead attorney for meet-and-confers, negotiating ESI parameters, timelines, proportionality, search terms, and TAR-related protocols

Draft and supervise high-stakes written work product: briefs, motions, discovery papers, position letters, and settlement materials

Manage teams (associates, staff attorneys, vendors) and drive deliverables with high standards and urgency

Partner closely with practice leadership as second-in-command—helping run major matters, mentoring junior lawyers, and supporting business development and client management

Required

J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership in a relevant jurisdiction (or ability to waive in promptly)

Significant demonstrated litigation experience at a law firm (AmLaw/peer firm strongly preferred)

Demonstrated strength in discovery and ESI: confident advising on ESI strategy, negotiating protocols, and managing complex review/production workflows

Experience with TAR and modern review approaches (e.g., protocol negotiation, defensibility, vendor coordination)

Excellent writing skills with a track record drafting substantive motion work, discovery briefs, and persuasive advocacy

Strong professional judgment, client-facing polish, and the ability to operate with autonomy in high-pressure environments

Willingness to work in a demanding, high-volume practice (this role requires sustained intensity and responsiveness)

Preferred

Experience serving as lead on major workstreams within large matters (including supervising teams and vendors)

Prior partner experience or current partner at another firm seeking a larger platform

Experience in complex commercial, investigations, product liability, or other bet-the-company matters (tailor to the group)

Deposition experience and/or meaningful role in trial preparation
