The role involves working on various large infrastructure projects related to water, including design and construction of structures like locks and dams, while collaborating with senior staff and other engineering disciplines.

Responsibilities
Perform engineering calculations and create construction cost estimates
Work with senior staff to create project designs for structures on or near the water (locks, dams, water control gates, mooring dolphins, etc.)
Perform QA/QC by verifying design methodology, calculations, outcomes, etc
Interpret and understand drawings from various disciplines and respond to requests for information
Conduct field inspections and surveys in support of design and construction efforts
Research and apply code provisions to design
Research design alternatives and document findings for project engineer/manager
Evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques and procedures using own judgement
Assist senior staff in the creation of proposals, client information, and designs
Develop drawings while applying changes and corrections as needed
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering required
Ability to read, write, and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions
Preferred
EIT (Engineer-in-Training) certification is a plus
Interest in structural engineering projects on or near the water preferred
Prior internship or class experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation preferred
