Responsibilities
Manage a highly sophisticated group that must review and understand all proposed and enacted global regulatory requirements and synthesize them into company QSOPs and GQMPs including those related to chemical compliance
Assess, review and manage the Regulatory & Compliance global budget
Responsible for ensuring global representation on the appropriate standards organizations including but not limited to ISO and ASTM. In this role, the SD represents Mattel’s position on these organizations and ensures the core information is included within the appropriate QSOPs and GQMPs going forward
Responsible for ensuring that all global regulatory requirements are converted into the appropriate QSOPs and GQMPs
Team management: this role has multiple direct reports: including but not limited to Leader of the Global Chemical Regulatory & Compliance team; (2) Leader of the APAC and Labs Regulatory & Compliance team; (3) EA Campus Lead Regulatory & Compliance QE ; (4) ES Campus Lead Regulatory & Compliance QE ; (5) Manufacturing Regulatory & Compliance QE; (6) Corporate Policies and Procedures Regulatory & Compliance QE; (7) CPSC Reporting Team Lead
Collaborate with the head of EMEA compliance to ensure worldwide regulatory requirements are understood and interpreted appropriately
Align with the head of government affairs and advise on incoming legislation in NA and worldwide to ensure the least business interruptions for Mattel
Lead on engagement with Quality Engineering (Product, Process and Operations QE) to ensure understanding and training on relevant global policies and procedures
Lead on the engagement related to CPSC Reporting, Health Canada reporting and related Safety issues
Manage the recalls execution team and related issues including working with Global Consumers as applicable
Lead on engagement with Global Labs to ensure understanding and training on relevant global policies and procedures
Lead on engagement with our legal partners to ensure understanding and application of relevant global policies and procedures
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree Engineering, Compliance, or Regulations or equivalent work experience
15+ years Experience working at a consumer products company; experience with toys and juvenile products is preferred
10+ years Knowledge of product safety regulations including Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA), code of federal regulations, and related product safety and compliance state regulations
Experience engaging with CPSC, Health Canada, and/or PROFECO
Experience with global product safety and compliance regulators
Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
High level of personal and professional integrity and trustworthiness with strong work ethic and the ability to work independently with minimal direction
