The role involves assisting in reference services, shelving, and planning and implementing programs, with a focus on providing exceptional customer service to library users.

Responsibilities
Provides customer service at a public service desk on a daily basis, in a proactive and friendly manner
Communicates with library users regarding questions for information, and interpreting and explaining library policy and procedures
Provides reader's advisory
Shelves and sorts library materials
Assists with any library service where help is needed such as at computers, gaming systems or anywhere in the library
Assists patrons with locating information in print collections and online electronic resources
Assists in the maintenance of files related to programming
Participates in outreach activities to community organizations, schools, retirement centers, or other groups to promote the use of the library
Provides departmental clerical support using typical office machines
Informs supervisor of all work related activities
Performs as a responsible steward of the public trust and strives for excellence in public service, enhancing the quality of life for all
Acts in a civil, respectful manner at all times to management, co-workers and others
Performs other duties as may be assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree
Work history in customer service
Completion of National Incident Management System (NIMS) training courses as outlined by Emergency Management after hire
Preferred
Customer service experience in a library preferred
