Virginia's Community College System is seeking an Associate Instructor in Information Technology to provide quality instruction for students. The role emphasizes excellent teaching and student support, with responsibilities including teaching courses, advising students, and participating in curriculum development.

Responsibilities
Teach various courses in the Information Technology discipline (ITD, ITE, ITN, ITP) that may include classes in the Year Up program
Courses are offered in traditional, hybrid, and distance learning environments
All faculty members must be available to teach day, evening and weekend classes
Faculty members also serve as faculty advisors, serve on division/campus/college committees, and participate in curriculum development and assessment
Meet assigned classes regularly, submit required records and reports routinely, teach the prescribed courses of study with the established texts, conduct requisite student conferences, hold required office hours, adhere to the statement on professional ethics in accordance with College policies, procedures, and regulations, and answer emails in a responsible fashion
Maintain current competence in their respective discipline or field of specialization and to advise students
Qualification
Required
The ability to effectively teach Information Technology concepts in the classroom
Ability to use technology to enhance classroom instruction
Ability to use online resources and Learning Management Systems
Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and oral/written communication skills
Ability to teach a combination of day, evening, weekend, and online classes
Ability to be flexible to work at any of the College's locations
Ability to successfully pass a criminal background check
Master's degree in the teaching field (Information Technology) or master's degree with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in Information Technology coursework. Qualifying degree and coursework must be awarded by a regionally accredited institution
A minimum of two years of full-time related occupational experience. Part-time experience will be converted to its full-time equivalent
Preferred
Experience teaching a wide range of Information Technology courses
Certification in teaching hybrid or online courses. Online course development and teaching training such as Quality Matters
Industry certification in courses such as A+, Network+, Security+, Data+ or equivalent certification/training
College-level teaching experience
Experience teaching courses that prepare students for industry certifications such as A+, Network+, Security+, CompTIA Data+, Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate and Google Data Analytics Certificate
Qualifying degree and/or coursework must be from a regionally accredited institution
Experience teaching in the community college environment
Experience with and preparation for teaching culturally, linguistically, socio-economically, and academically diverse students at the college-level
