Responsibilities
Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of an integrated environmental and regulatory compliance program aligned with strategic, regulatory, and sustainability objectives
Ensure environmental and product regulatory strategies adapt effectively to changing requirements, proactively identifying risks and emerging issues while encouraging early reporting, open communication, and a learning-focused response
Serve as a connector across technical and non-technical teams to build shared understanding of regulatory and environmental requirements, promoting psychological safety and enabling people to speak up about risks, challenges, and system gaps
Foster a culture of accountability, learning, and continuous improvement by supporting teams with clear expectations, removing barriers to success, and reinforcing behaviors that strengthen compliance and organizational resilience
Direct compliance-related communication, training, and awareness efforts that prioritize clarity, usability, and workforce empowerment, ensuring that people have the information and tools they need to perform work safely and compliantly
Maintain monitoring systems for regulatory changes, compliance performance, and key risk indicators, ensuring timely evaluation and collaborative action while treating variability and weak signals as opportunities to learn and improve
Lead root-cause evaluation and mitigation efforts that focus on understanding system drivers, not blame, and implement sustainable solutions that strengthen processes, tools, and decision-making
Identify opportunities to simplify workflows, reduce operational burden, and improve reliability and efficiency across compliance processes, using employee feedback and operational insights to inform system improvements
Ensure global product regulatory compliance – including labeling, chemical regulations, hazard communication, SDS authoring, and related processes – in alignment with applicable laws and standards (e.g., EPA, OSHA, CPSC, Prop 65)
Oversee development and execution of regulatory strategies that balance regulatory risk with commercial, operational, and strategic priorities
Ensure end-to-end labeling processes, policies, and systems meet global business and regulatory requirements and align with the strategic direction of the organization
Direct monitoring, interpretation, and implementation of new or evolving regulatory requirements; coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure timely updates across product lines
Oversee processes for maintaining required product registrations, licenses, certifications, and permits, ensuring accuracy and ongoing compliance
Support cross-functional teams by interpreting regulatory requirements and ensuring product and labeling decisions remain compliant and operationally feasible
Ensure processes exist for monitoring legislation, identifying regulatory changes, and implementing required updates across product lines
Oversee development, implementation, and ongoing improvement of environmental compliance programs aligned with U.S. federal, state, and Canadian regulations, including EPR and other environmental/sustainability requirements
Ensure the Environmental Management System (EMS) remains effective, continuously improved, and aligned with corporate environmental and sustainability objectives
Lead the company’s environmental advocacy efforts by representing the organization in regulatory and industry forums and maintaining strong relationships with agencies, NGOs, and stakeholders
Monitor emerging environmental legislation and direct preparation of organizational responses such as position papers, comment letters, and engagement strategies
Integrate environmental sustainability practices—including resource efficiency, waste reduction, and stewardship—into business operations while ensuring alignment with compliance requirements and corporate sustainability goals
Oversee environmental sustainability initiatives that improve environmental performance, collaborating with Legal when environmental insights or data support broader ESG reporting or disclosures
Promote environmental stewardship through training, communication, and culture-building initiatives across the organization
Provide environmental data, regulatory interpretation, and subject-matter guidance to Legal and cross-functional teams to support ESG-related disclosures, reporting, and external engagement, without owning the ESG program
Provide enterprise-wide leadership for major regulatory and sustainability projects that require cross-functional coordination, regulatory interpretation, and organizational readiness
Monitor and assess regulatory changes affecting manufacturing, distribution, labeling, transportation classifications, and VOC/CARB and related regulatory obligations; ensure timely updates and compliance actions
Oversee regulatory change management, including action plans, compliance playbooks, change trackers, and stakeholder communication
Lead large-scale regulatory projects involving Legal, Operations, Product Technology, Quality, IT, EHS, ESG, Sales, Marketing, Customer Support, and external consultants
Manage regulatory integration for acquisitions and strategic initiatives, including Day-1 readiness under TSA/MSA obligations (e.g., SDS/label harmonization, documentation, testing, registrations)
Oversee harmonization and audit-readiness of SDS, labels, technical data sheets, and other regulatory documentation across brands and markets
Direct audit and inspection preparedness related to regulatory obligations and contractual performance requirements
Ensure regulatory workflows are embedded into enterprise tools, define KPIs for readiness, harmonization, and incident response, and promote continuous process and system improvements to enhance compliance efficiency and traceability
