Program Manager, YMI
The New York City Department of Education is seeking a Program Manager for the Young Men's Initiative (YMI), a comprehensive effort to address disparities faced by Black and Latino young men. The Program Manager will support research and project needs, manage relationships with city agencies and community partners, and provide support to the YMI leadership team.

Responsibilities
Provide initial research for the YMI team on new programs, partners, and potential development opportunities
Develop concept papers to brief the Executive Director and Deputy Executive Director on relevant policy areas pertaining to young people of color and their environments
Support program design and performance management for initiatives related to YMI’s portfolio
Coordinate with the team to ensure programs and policies are implemented
Work with YMI leadership to engage city agencies to manage work groups and policy bodies
Provide analytical and project management assistance, including developing and maintaining project plans and other documents, to team members
Lead and contribute to special projects as necessary
Advise the YMI team on best practices and new methods to better address vulnerable populations within NYC
Qualification
Required
A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two (2) years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
High school graduation or equivalent and six (6) years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
Education and/or experience which is equivalent to '1' or '2' above. However, all candidates must have at least one (1) year of experience as described in '1' above
Preferred
You have a Bachelor's degree with at least 2 years of work experience in city government or non-profit sectors
You have experience with program design and project management
You demonstrate comprehensive knowledge and understanding of research principles and practices
You take initiative, problem-solve, prioritize duties, balance competing priorities, work independently within a fast-paced team environment, pay close attention to detail, meet deadlines, and work well under pressure
You have familiarity with education, youth development, mentorship, tutoring or criminal justice policies and programs a plus
Well-developed interpersonal skills
Effective and creative leadership ability with the capacity to work both independently and cooperatively to effect key strategies
Excellent spoken and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work well and communicate with a variety of audiences, e.g., employers, providers, and agency officials
