Director of Finance Transformation & Controllership

Responsibilities
Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring timely, accurate, GAAP-compliant financial statements
Engage directly in close processes to identify inefficiencies and implement sustainable process improvements
Maintain robust internal controls and documentation aligned with SOX-readiness and audit standards
Partner with FP&A and leadership to ensure consistent and data-driven financial reporting
Lead efforts to automate and optimize accounting, reporting, and payroll workflows through AI and digital tools
Modernize financial systems (NetSuite, Workiva, FloQast, Adaptive, etc.) for scalability across multi-entity, multi-currency environments
Leverage AI-driven insights and predictive analytics to improve forecasting and anomaly detection
Champion continuous improvement in systems, workflows, and cross-functional finance operations
Manage global treasury operations and reporting, including cash flow, liquidity, and intercompany settlements
Oversee fiat and crypto treasury functions, custody, and accounting for digital assets
Partner with CFO and COO to optimize capital structure, banking relationships, and FX management
Oversee global payroll operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness across all regions
Collaborate with HR and external partners to align payroll processes between U.S., Mexico, and future international entities
Maintain expert familiarity with Mexican accounting, payroll, and tax compliance requirements
Implement automation and AI solutions to improve global payroll accuracy and efficiency
Ensure adherence to financial compliance standards, including GAAP, audit requirements, and internal control frameworks
Support fintech-related compliance and evolving crypto accounting regulations as the company grows
Drive continuous improvement in audit readiness, documentation, and testing processes
Maintain readiness for SOX and SOC 2 Type II frameworks in preparation for public-company expectations
Partner closely with the CFO, COO, Head of FP&A, and HR to align accounting, payroll, treasury, and compliance functions with company objectives
Manage and mentor teams across the U.S. and LATAM (especially Mexico)
Drive integration of newly acquired entities — harmonizing accounting policies, payroll systems, and financial reporting frameworks
Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership and an operational bridge between accounting and strategic finance
Qualification
Required
10+ years of progressive finance leadership experience in high-growth SaaS, fintech, or technology-enabled companies, with increasing scope across accounting, controllership, and finance operations
CPA highly preferred
In lieu of an active CPA license, we will consider candidates who demonstrate equivalent depth of accounting and financial governance expertise, including one or more of the following: Prior Big 4 or top-tier public accounting experience (Senior Manager level or above), Significant industry controllership ownership, including GAAP financial statements, audits, and internal controls, Hands-on leadership of SOX readiness, audit management, or IPO-prep initiatives, International accounting experience in multi-entity, multi-currency environment
CPA in progress or demonstrated intent to pursue CPA licensure is strongly valued. This includes candidates who: Have passed one or more CPA exam sections, Are actively enrolled in a CPA program, Plan to pursue licensure and meet eligibility requirements
Deep expertise in GAAP accounting, audit, internal controls, and financial governance, with the ability to operate at public-company standards even in a pre-IPO environment
Proven experience scaling accounting and finance operations, including close optimization, systems modernization (e.g., NetSuite, Workiva, FloQast, Adaptive), and process automation
Demonstrated success leading and developing teams across geographies; experience working with or overseeing Mexico / LATAM-based finance or payroll operations is highly preferred
Strong business acumen with the ability to connect accounting rigor to operational and strategic decision-making
Experience partnering cross-functionally with FP&A, HR, Operations, Legal, and executive leadership
Ability to travel 10–15%, primarily to Mexico, as needed
Preferred
Demonstrated success leading and developing teams across geographies; experience working with or overseeing Mexico / LATAM-based finance or payroll operations is highly preferred
Fintech industry experience strongly preferred; exposure to payments, money movement, or digital assets is a plus
Spanish proficiency is a plus but not required
