Responsibilities
Supervise day-to-day Medicare hospital billing operations (inpatient & outpatient)
Oversee the end-to-end institutional claim lifecycle :
837I submissions, 277CA rejections, RTP corrections
835 remittance analysis, underpayment identification
Appeals preparation and tracking
Act as the escalation point for complex Medicare billing issues
Reduce RTPs, rework, and preventable denials
Improve cash flow through timely follow-up and appeal strategies
Lead, coach, and manage a team of approximately 12 billing staff
Partner with Coding, HIM, Patient Access, Revenue Integrity, Case Management, and IT to resolve systemic claim issues
Ensure compliance with CMS and Medi-Cal regulations
Qualification
Required
3+ years of hospital revenue cycle experience
3+ years of hospital AR management with Medicare & Medi-Cal
Strong knowledge of Traditional Medicare institutional billing
Experience with inpatient & outpatient billing
Experience with TOBs (11x, 12x, 13x, etc.)
Experience with Part A & Part B billing
Experience with timely filing rules
Experience with MSP & eligibility troubleshooting
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Hospital billing experience is required (professional/physician billing will not be considered)
Candidates must have current Medicare regulations knowledge
Preferred
2+ years of supervisory or team-lead experience
RHIA or RHIT certification (preferred, not required)
