Emergency Communications Manager-** INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY**

The Emergency Communications Manager will oversee the daily operations of the E-911 Emergency Communications Center, supervise staff, and ensure compliance with industry standards while assisting in emergency preparedness and response.

Responsibilities

Assist the Emergency Communications Director in managing the daily operations of the ECC
Acts as the direct supervisor to the Emergency Communications Supervisors
Monitors staffing levels and overtime usage to maintain operational readiness while minimizing unnecessary overtime
Coordinate with other public safety departments to ensure adequate staffing for special events
Oversee the QA / QI program to ensure timely and consistent evaluation of performance and adherence to industry standards
Assists in investigating citizen or agency complaints and making recommendations for resolutions
Maintain knowledge of accreditation standards and ensure compliance
Ensure compliance with established policies, procedures, and performance standards
Participate in personnel development by mentoring staff and supporting the continuing education process
Actively participate in emergency preparedness planning, drills, and interagency coordination
Respond and assist with critical incidents, large-scale emergencies, or technical failures
Represents the ECC in professional associations, meetings, and training sessions
Prepares and provides reports from various systems and programs as requested
Maintain on-call status for emergency or after-hours issues, as assigned
Assists with responding and fulfilling public records requests
Perform other duties assigned by the Emergency Communications Director or direct supervisor
During emergencies, all employees are considered essential personnel and may be required to perform alternate duties

Required

Must possess associate's degree
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in public safety communications, with at least three (3) years in a supervisory role
Must possess a valid Florida Driver's License
Must possess a current 911 Public Safety Telecommunicator certification through Florida Department of Health
Must possess FCIC / NCIC certification
Must possess a EMD certification
Must possess a CPR and T-CPR certification
Must possess the following FEMA courses: IS 100 C – Introduction to Incident Command, IS 200 C – Basic Incident Command System for Initial Response, IS 700 B – An Introduction to National Incident Management Systems, IS 5A – An Introduction to Hazardous Material and IS 317 A – Introduction to Community Emergency Response Teams
