Oklahoma State University is seeking a Human Resources Benefits Representative to serve as the first point of contact for students and employees with benefits-related questions. Responsibilities
Serves as the first point of contact for students and employees with benefits-related questions or concerns by providing exceptional customer service, answering inquiries, processing requests, and directing individuals to the appropriate specialist or vendor when needed
Develops an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the OSU A&M benefit and retirement plans as well as the OSU student health plan in order to administer plans in accordance with plan documents, policies and/or federal and state regulations; i.e. determine eligibility, determine allowable changes to plan elections, and adhere to various federally mandated regulations and limits
Assists employees in resolving benefit issues utilizing direct contact with various departments, payroll, technical teams, and vendors
Identifies potential system-wide benefit issues and proactively escalates as necessary to resolve further misapplication or miscommunication of OSU benefit plans
Presents benefit and retirement information at New Hire Orientation, annual enrollment benefit meetings and other benefits-related events
Must adhere to confidentiality practices established and regulated through HIPAA
Participates in a rotational set of duties; i.e. health default, departmental inbox, LTD purge
Must become a Notary and will be required to notarize documents as necessary
Qualification
Required
High School/GED (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
Two years' experience in customer service. Post-secondary education may be substituted for experience
Must be a self-starter and work independently
Must possess effective verbal and written communication skills and be comfortable making presentations in group settings
Must be proficient with a variety of software (word processing, spreadsheet, data base, scanning etc.)
Must be able to work well in a diverse environment
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Accuracy and consistent attention to detail is required
Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time
Must be able to work on the computer for most of the day
Preferred
Bachelor's degree in HR or Business related field
Two years experience in employee and/or student health plans
