Responsibilities
Conduct utility designation, verification, and mapping using electromagnetic (EM) locators, ground-penetrating radar (GPR), and other geophysical tools
Perform field investigations to identify and classify underground utilities per ASCE 38-22 standards
Operate and maintain subsurface utility locating equipment and GPS data collection devices
Work alongside SUE Analyst to collect and integrate SUE data into project deliverables
Provide real-time field documentation, sketches, and reports for utility data findings
Assist with vacuum excavation (potholing) to expose utilities when necessary
Communicate with project managers, surveyors, engineers, and utility owners regarding utility conflicts and findings
Provide mentorship and professional development to junior field employees
Ensure field safety compliance, following OSHA and company safety protocols
Provide training and guidance to SUE/Survey Tech I as needed
Qualification
Required
High school diploma required
2-4 years of field experience in utility locating, surveying, or subsurface utility engineering
Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites
This is primarily a traveling position, requiring up to six weeks at a time
Preferred
Technical training or an associate's degree in surveying, GIS, or civil engineering
