Key Account Manager (Government / Public Sector)
MSC Industrial Supply Co. is a trusted North American distributor of metalworking and maintenance products. The Key Account Manager will focus on managing and growing relationships with Government and Public Sector clients, ensuring their needs are met through tailored solutions and strategic business planning.
Responsibilities
Manage and grow relationships with key accounts
Developing strategic business plans
Delivering exceptional customer service
Analyzing client data to identify opportunities
Build key customer relationships
Develop new accounts
Identify business opportunities within the Government / Public Sector Vertical
Negotiates and closes business deals
Qualification
Required
Strong Account Management and Key Account handling experience, with a proven ability to build and maintain meaningful relationships with clients
Exceptional Analytical Skills, with the ability to interpret client data and develop actionable business insights
Maintain extensive knowledge of current market conditions in the Government / Public Sector segment
Proficiency in Business Planning, with a focus on creating strategic plans and achieving measurable outcomes
Excellent Customer Service skills and a commitment to delivering value to government or public sector clients
Collaborate with other Managers, Program Managers, and Team Manager to increase sales opportunities and maximize sales revenue
Demonstrates knowledge of Public Sector customers within their assigned areas in regard to the current market climate
Tailor presentations and commercial insight specific to customers specific requirements, agency culture and contacts personality
Mandatory usage of our Customer Relationship Management (CRM) tool Salesforce.com (SFDC) and adherence to prescribed actions under the company's Sales Management Standards
Must be a Government / Public Sector Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all solutions, programs, and company contracts
Research and comprehend industry trends that will impact customer
Professional development training will be completed in a timely manner as assigned
Develop and maintain relationships with contacts that are users, influencers, and decision makers
Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
2 years of successful industry experience
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Salesforce.com experience
Preferred
Proven experience with government and/or public sector accounts is a plus
Government / Public Sector sales is preferred
