The 2026 Summer Intern - System Development Intern will assist in developing new sequencing technologies, performing experiments, and analyzing data while gaining hands-on experience in a supportive environment.

Responsibilities
Perform a variety of sequencing and sequencing-related experiments on a daily basis, help analyze and interpret the data
Learn operation of the Roche Single Molecule Sequencing Platform
General support of diverse research and development activities
Pull from previous technical knowledge in the above disciplines to generate new ideas to improve the sequencing systems
Modify existing code or generate new code to analyze data or test new instrument protocols
Perform all work using best laboratory practices and maintain a well-organized and concise record of work performed and progress made
Qualification
Required
Must be pursuing a Bachelor's Degree (enrolled student)
Must be pursuing a Master's Degree (enrolled student)
Must be pursuing a PhD (enrolled student)
Required Majors: BioChemistry, Biomedical engineering, Biology, Chemistry
Previous laboratory experience required
Previous technical knowledge in one or multiple of the following disciplines is strongly preferred: molecular biology, chemistry, bioengineering, fluidics or microfluidics, mechanical engineering, and/or automation
Some computer scripting skills required (Python preferred)
Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential
Demonstrated ability to work well in teams and across scientific disciplines is essential
The candidate should be passionate, self-motivated, and possess a strong desire to join an ambitious team developing a next generation sequencing platform
