Sr. Energy Engineer II

Responsibilities
Conduct energy audits (ASHRAE Level 1–3), utility data analysis, and end-use profiling to identify savings opportunities
Develop feasibility studies, savings calculations, and business cases (NPV, IRR, payback, LCOE)
Build and calibrate energy models (e.g., eQUEST, EnergyPlus, Trane 3D, Carrier HAP)
Prepare scenario analyses for distributed energy resources (DERs) (e.g., solar PV, BESS, CHP/microturbine, demand response, electrification) a plus
Presentation and Customer meeting participation
Produce engineering deliverables: one-line diagrams, equipment selection, specifications, load calculations, schematics, solution summaries, and design submittals
Ensure compliance with applicable codes/standards (e.g., NEC, NFPA, ASHRAE 90.1, IECC) and local utility interconnection requirements
Participate in QA/QC reviews, design risk assessments, and constructability checks
Coordinate with construction team, subcontractors, OEMs, and integrators
Review submittals and RFIs
Site inspections, quality control, support commissioning, and start-up
Assist in developing O&M manuals and training
Assist in building and implementing measurement and verification (M&V) plans, tracking performance, and delivering post-implementation reports
Assist in navigating permitting and interconnection processes with authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs) and utilities
Assist with identifying and securing incentives, grants, and rebates where applicable
Maintain rigorous safety practices and environmental compliance
Present technical findings to clients and executives in clear, business-focused terms
Collaborate cross-functionally with sales, development, construction, performance and finance departments to align scope and outcomes
Prepare concise reports, design packages/submittals, energy conservation measure (ECM) summaries and executive summaries
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Architectural, or Energy Engineering (or related field)
10+ years of experience performing energy audits, delivering energy efficiency and/or distributed energy projects
Proficiency in energy modeling tools, and Excel-based analysis
Familiarity with electrical and mechanical systems (switchgear, drives, HVAC, boilers, chillers, controls)
Experience with construction and implementation of ECMs from constructability aspect
Strong Scope of Work development for subcontractors to reduce company risks
Awareness of strong project management fundamentals (schedule/budget control, risk management, vendor coordination)

Professional Engineer (PE or EIT on path to PE) Certified Energy Manager (CEM)
Experience with DERs (solar, storage, CHP, microgrids), utility interconnection, and commissioning
Working knowledge of name brand building automation systems (BAS) and measurement & verification (IPMVP) protocols
Experience with incentive programs (utility rebates, state/energy grants) and decarbonization roadmaps
