Legal Support Supervisor

The California Department of Justice is the largest law firm in California, and they are seeking a dedicated Legal Support Supervisor to join their Legal Support Team. This role involves supervising a staff of legal secretaries and administrative staff, planning and coordinating activities to provide support services to attorneys and paralegals.

Responsibilities

Establish and maintaining positive working relationships and effective communication between the professional and support staff
Maintain attendance records, approving absences, overtime and leave usage requests
Prepare probationary reports and annual performance appraisals for employees
Initiating, preparing, reviewing, and recommending appropriate personnel actions while participating in corrective interviews when needed
Provide orientation and/or training for new employees
Attend and conducting team meetings
Complete ongoing reports and special projects as delegated by the Supervisor I or the Supervisor II, which may include career counseling, training, and ergonomic evaluations and recruiting and hiring support personnel
Works closely with the legal specialists (trainers) to ensure proper court procedures are implemented

Required

Supervise a staff of 8 to 15 legal secretaries and other administrative staff
Plan, organize, and coordinate the activities of a support team to provide secretarial services to a professional staff of attorneys and paralegals
