Senior IT Systems Specialist

King County's KCIT Operations and Infrastructure division is hiring a Senior IT Systems Specialist who will lead efforts to design, standardize, modernize, and maintain all KCIT-supported conference and collaboration rooms. Responsibilities

Serve as the technical owner for KCIT-supported conference and collaboration rooms, maintaining authoritative inventory records, room layouts, and system documentation
Establish and enforce standard room designs and supported hardware profiles, with emphasis on Microsoft Teams Rooms, conferencing peripherals, displays, and digital signage
Lead scheduled audits and lifecycle tracking to identify missing, damaged, or obsolete equipment and coordinate timely replacements
Provide technical guidance and oversight to staff on inventory processes, room documentation, and asset management best practices
Lead discovery, requirements gathering, and solution design for complex A/V and collaboration projects in partnership with KCIT, Facilities (FMD), and business stakeholders
Develop detailed scopes of work, system designs, and implementation plans aligned with enterprise standards and user needs
Estimate project costs, timelines, labor, and resource requirements, and contribute to prioritization and scheduling of installations
Establish and execute preventative maintenance programs to ensure system reliability, including firmware updates, equipment testing, calibration, and proactive replacement of failing components
Serve as a senior technical authority for troubleshooting complex audio, video, control, and network integration issues, including A/V over UTP and IP-based systems
Provide technical direction, mentorship, and quality assurance for KCIT staff, vendors, and Facilities during installations, maintenance activities, and incident response

Required

Minimum 4 years of IT and/or Audio Visual (AV) experience, with progressively increasing responsibility
Desired minimum of 2 years of vendor management experience, including coordination with manufacturers, integrators, and service providers
Experience coordinating the analysis, purchasing, and installation of hardware, AV systems, and furniture in spaces designed for meetings, collaboration, and conferencing is a primary requirement
Familiarity with current and emerging presentation, conferencing, and collaboration technologies, including enterprise AV and video teleconferencing solutions, is required for success in this role
Ability to communicate effectively with clients, stakeholders and internal teams to understand needs, set expectations and provide clear updates throughout project lifecycles
Work within cross-functional teams to implement multiple workstreams to project completion
Must be able to safely perform physical tasks including loading, unloading, sorting, lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying, placing equipment and boxes of varying sizes and weights, as well as bending, twisting, kneeling, stooping, and crawling in a safe and efficient manner
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
A valid Washington State Driver's License, or out-of-state equivalent, is required
Successful completion of a criminal background check and fingerprinting is required
CJIS background check is required for the selected candidate

Preferred

Two or more years of experience with Microsoft Teams Rooms (MTR) deployment and operations
Avixa CTS, CTS-I, CTS-D Certification
Understanding of Entra ID, Azure AD, Intune
Experience with AV/IT controls systems such as Q-SYS or Extron
