Engineering Consultant
Trilyon, Inc. is a leader in global workforce solutions, specializing in various technologies. They are seeking a highly experienced Engineering Consultant to support complex engineering initiatives, focusing on technology integration, standards development, and stakeholder coordination.
Responsibilities
Lead the integration of new or pre-commercial technologies into existing systems
Evaluate pilot projects against defined success criteria and determine readiness for enterprise deployment
Develop, update, and maintain engineering standards to support evolving technologies and compliance requirements
Ensure standards align with regulatory mandates, risk mitigation strategies, and corporate objectives
Collaborate with Project Leads, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), Substation Construction & Maintenance, Operations, and Training teams
Facilitate cross-functional communication throughout all phases of technology transition
Partner with Technology Integration and Training teams to develop and execute training plans
Ensure operating manuals, maintenance procedures, and compatible unit documentation are updated prior to deployment
Define asset ownership and accountability for new technologies
Oversee SAP and Master Data integration activities
Manage standards change requests through all phases of the standards governance process
Maintain documentation and ensure compliance with procedural and regulatory requirements
Conduct operational, safety, and training impact assessments for new standards and technologies
Identify gaps and provide feedback to strategy teams for roadmap and continuous improvement initiatives
Qualification
Required
Deep expertise in transmission, distribution, and substation standards
Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks including CPUC General Orders and NERC requirements
Ability to interpret engineering principles and evaluate implications of standards changes (e.g., conductor tension, clearance, structural loading)
Proficiency with engineering and standards tools such as AUD/DM, SPIDA, and AutoCAD
Proven ability to lead technology pilots and facilitate equipment and system transitions
Awareness of Asset Strategy & Planning (ASP) roadmaps and alignment with organizational goals
Strong risk assessment capabilities, including QA/QC evaluation and operational impact analysis
Advanced analytical skills using standards functions and Excel-based analysis
Lead pilot initiatives and manage transition to long-term operational processes
Develop and deliver standards updates and technical communications
Represent Asset Strategy & Planning in cross-functional and industry forums
Strong collaboration skills with planners, SMEs, and field personnel
Ability to manage complex, multi-disciplinary work in a dynamic environment
Adaptable and solution-oriented mindset
Preferred
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
Professional Engineer (P.E.) license preferred
Advanced knowledge of power systems, regulatory compliance (CPUC, NERC), and standards development
Demonstrated leadership in technology integration, standards governance, and cross-functional coordination
Strong strategic thinking, communication, and problem-solving capabilities
