Water Quality Intern

New England Water Environment Association (NEWEA) is dedicated to preserving and advancing water quality in the Northeast. They are seeking an intern to support their clean water initiatives by assisting with various programs, promoting public education on water quality, and managing financial transactions.

Responsibilities

Assist with the Long Island Garden Rewards program by processing and tracking reimbursement requests for rain barrels, native plantings, and rain gardens
Promote public education and outreach on water quality and conservation issues
Manage financial transactions for clean water in a fast-paced environment
Assist with data entry, updating funds, mailings, and record keeping, and support NEIWPCC events and operations

Qualification

Environmental scienceMicrosoft Office SuiteLeadershipCommunicationOrganizational skills

Required

At least two years of college completed with a major in environmental science, biology, natural science, or related field
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
Good leadership, communication, coordination, and organizational skills
A valid driver's license and access to personal transportation

Preferred

Candidates with alternative qualifications or who have taken a less traditional career path may be considered if an aptitude for success and a strong willingness to learn is clearly apparent
