WA Payroll Compliance/Tax Analyst

Responsibilities
Support and improve end-to-end payroll processes with a strong focus on Washington State payroll compliance
Ensure accurate setup and ongoing administration of WA-specific requirements, including Washington L&I (workers’ comp reporting, classifications, audits/support, related reconciliations)
Manage payroll tax filings, reconciliations, and issue resolution, including responding to agency notices
Administer and reconcile GTL (Group Term Life) imputed income and related payroll/tax impacts (calculation, system configuration, reporting)
Monitor WA regulatory updates and translate changes into workflows, controls, and payroll system updates
Partner cross-functionally (HR, Benefits, Finance, and vendors) to resolve issues and strengthen compliance processes
Maintain thorough documentation (SOPs, audit trails, compliance evidence) and support internal/external audits
Investigate payroll discrepancies and drive root-cause fixes to prevent recurrence
Qualification
Required
Proven experience in payroll + compliance + payroll tax, with deep Washington State expertise
Hands-on experience with Washington L&I (reporting/reconciliations and audit support)
Hands-on experience with GTL (imputed income calculations and payroll/tax reporting)
Strong reconciliation skills (payroll registers, tax liabilities, GL postings)
High attention to detail, strong documentation habits, and comfort handling sensitive data

Paycom HRIS experience strongly preferred
