Responsibilities

Operate in a 24x7x365 Network Operations Center; this includes shift work, 2nd and 3rd shift hours, and weekends
Constant monitoring of Network Management systems for alarms and performance metrics on the METRONET Service Provider Network. Watching for potential security threats on the network and taking appropriate actions
Report, document, and track all alarm events while maintaining a high level of accuracy and urgency
Logging and managing trouble tickets, assigning priorities, and updating ticket status with resolution details
Identifying and responding to network alerts, troubleshooting issues, and taking corrective actions to minimize downtime. Communicate Network Event alerts and updates to internal Metronet teams and executives
Analyzing network logs and system behavior to diagnose the root cause of network problems and implement solutions
Elevating and Escalating issues to higher-level support teams and management when necessary
Communicates daily with many departments within METRONET, other telecommunication providers and vendors to discuss and coordinate all network troubles/outages and projects
Perform contact center duties in a high-volume environment
Perform other duties assigned by NOC Management team

Required

Strong understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, routing protocols)
Proficiency in network monitoring tools and ticketing systems
Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills
Ability to work under pressure and make quick decisions while multi-tasking
Effective communication skills to interact with technical and non-technical teams
Basic knowledge of Telecommunications best practices and principles
Must have a knowledge of the OSI model
Flexibility to work additional shifts where required
Experience with Nokia, and Adtran PON equipment
Good written/verbal communications skills and ability to deal effectively with other people
Possess the ability to take on new and demanding challenges
Demonstrate the ability to assume new levels of responsibility
Education: 2- or 4-year technical degree and/or equivalent training
Experience: Minimum of 1-3 years of experience pertaining to the telecommunications industry. Experience/training on voice and data communication networks and the individual elements within those networks, data/wireless communications principles
Professional attitude

Preferred

Experience with PON/GPON based services is desired
