Responsibilities

Support and enable staff as an advocate for their success
Evaluate and authorize hazardous work
Approve timesheets
Assist with and approve procurements
Coordinate facility changes/upgrades
Oversee budget
Mentor staff spanning multiple disciplines and technical demographics
Work with the group leader, program managers, and principal investigators to ensure strategic coherence

Required

Demonstrated professional-level background with a record of achievement relevant to the group's mission
Demonstrated successful leadership of technical projects and personnel
Proven ability in supervising, directing assignments, assuring training and development, resolving conflicts, mentoring, team building, managing staff requirements, motivating employees, budget analysis, and monitoring performance
Previous experience in building and leading teams, mentoring and motivating employees, and working effectively with all levels of internal and external personnel to gain consensus and resolve conflicts
Working knowledge of the operational rigor needed to maintain safe, secure, and regulatory-compliant operations in a national laboratory environment
Demonstrated experience executing or leading hazardous work in a formal environment
Demonstrated ability to communicate with personnel at all levels, with an emphasis on experience coordinating efforts in cross-organizational collaboration projects
The ability to obtain a Q and SCI clearance
Position requires a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and 5 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation

Preferred

Active 'Q' and SCI clearances
An active portfolio of work that can fund ½ of the successful candidate's time
A broad network of relationships that can be leveraged to enable the group
Experience working with sponsors outside the NNSA/DOE
Knowledge of test hardware and experimental design methodologies
Experience with work bound by complex safety and/or security considerations
