Civil Engineer Supervisor

Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) is seeking a Civil Engineer Supervisor to play a key role in shaping the future of Seattle’s waterways and environmental health. The successful candidate will supervise staff and manage complex engineering projects, ensuring high-quality design and compliance with regulations.

Government Administration

Responsibilities

Supervises staff performing or serves as project engineer and Engineer of Record on the most technically complex, visible and/or controversial projects or programs involving several design specialties including: Drinking water pipelines, conveyance pipes, valving, pump stations, ER-DIP, cathodic protection, water system appurtenances, site restoration, ADA ramp designs, and general utility infrastructure projects
Leads the Drinking Water Design and Engineering Group
Supervises activities of a design team in the preparation of preliminary and long range plans, schedules, estimates, budgets, detailed final construction plans, specifications, and agreements. Oversees project progress from design through construction
Monitors the work of consultants and construction contractors to ensure compliance with contract provisions and scope of work
Supervises the preparation of a variety of reports, correspondence and official documents
Performs other related duties of a comparable level/type as assigned
Supervises the growth and development of staff
Ensure high quality design products from staff

Required

A Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology or other combinations of education and/or experience which provides preparation to complete professional Civil Engineering work
Requires six years professional civil engineering experience, including two years supervisory experience
Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Washington
Current Washington State driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility
