Calibrations Specialist Engineer

Salcomp Manufacturing USA is seeking a Calibration Specialist Engineer responsible for managing, maintaining, and improving the calibration system for measurement and test equipment used in manufacturing operations. This role ensures compliance with relevant standards and supports product quality and continuous improvement initiatives within the facility.

Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and maintain the calibration program for all inspection, measuring, and test equipment (IMTE)
Ensure timely calibration, verification, and re-certification of equipment in accordance with internal procedures and applicable standards
Manage calibration intervals, methods, traceability, and records using calibration management software
Perform in-house calibrations where applicable and coordinate external calibration services as required
Ensure traceability to national and international standards (ISO/IEC 17025)
Authority to conduct Calibration equipment assessments, Tag equipment as Non-Calibration Compliance (Expired Calibration – Out of Service), Report non-conformances, escalate to the equipment’s user Manager and Quality Manager if calibrations are expired and in use, support leading Containment Actions and Corrective Action Plan for Escalation topics related to Calibrations
Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ISO/IEC 17025, customer-specific requirements, and internal quality procedures
Support internal, customer, and third-party audits related to calibration and measurement systems
Investigate and document out-of-tolerance conditions; assess product impact and initiate corrective actions
Participate in Measurement System Analysis (MSA), including Gage R&R studies
Provide support on other tasks assigned by the Quality Manager related to Quality department
Support manufacturing and quality teams with measurement capability, equipment selection, and troubleshooting
Evaluate and recommend new measurement technologies and calibration equipment to improve accuracy and efficiency
Collaborate with Process engineering, Quality Engineering, SQE and Quality Inspectors on Control plans, PFMEA, and inspection strategies
Provide technical guidance on proper use, handling, and storage of measuring equipment
Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to calibration efficiency, cost reduction, and system robustness
Develop and maintain calibration procedures, work instructions, and training materials
Train inspectors, technicians, and engineers on measurement best practices and calibration awareness
Quote and initiate Purchase Requests (PR) and workflows for approval for all external calibrations
Follow the Purchasing and Finance processes for external calibration services

Required

Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related field)
1–3 years of experience in calibration, metrology, process engineering or quality engineering within a manufacturing environment
Hands-on experience with mechanical, electrical, and electronic measurement equipment
Experience working in regulated or ISO-certified manufacturing environments
Knowledge of calibration standards, metrology principles, and measurement uncertainty
Familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO/IEC 17025 and requirements related to monitoring and measuring resources
Experience with calibration management systems and databases
Proficiency in Statistical tools (MSA tools: Gage R&R, bias, linearity, stability)
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications (GD&T: Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent documentation and organizational skills
Effective communication across cross-functional teams
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

Preferred

Calibration or Metrology certification (e.g., ASQ Certified Calibration Technician, Metrologist)
Experience in electronics manufacturing or high-volume manufacturing environments
Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing background
Familiarity with customer audits and global manufacturing standards
