Responsibilities

Direct Advanced Practice Providers across campuses
Ensure alignment with clinical services and workflows for consistency across the cancer enterprise
Participate in the development, review, and revision of policies and Standardized Procedures relevant to the clinical environment
Engage in clinical, quality, and/or process improvement initiatives
Precept and mentor new APPs and/or APP students
Function as a clinical resource to other clinicians
Participate in in-service education and outreach programs
Engage in professional practice, including membership in a professional practice organization relevant to specialty or practice
Participate in unit-based or hospital-wide committees
Present at regional, national, or international meetings on clinical topics relevant to practice
Contribute scholarly works such as authorship, abstract submissions, and/or publications

Required

Five (5) years of Advanced Practice Provider (APP) experience with demonstrated leadership experience
Demonstrated Leadership Experience Leadership experience may be met through one of the following pathways: Three (3) years of related leadership experience, or Current NP III at UCSF, or Holds an NP III title, or is an NP II or Senior PA with progressive leadership experience in at least five (5) of the areas listed below
Progressive Leadership Areas (minimum of five(5) required) Participates in the development, review, and revision of policies and Standardized Procedures relevant to the clinical environment
Engages in clinical, quality, and/or process improvement initiatives, including one or more of the following: Precepts and mentors new APPs and/or APP students
Functions as a clinical resource to other clinicians
Participates in in-service education and outreach programs
Active involvement in professional practice, including: Membership in a professional practice organization relevant to specialty or practice
Active participation in at least one unit-based or hospital-wide committee
Presentation at regional, national, or international meetings on clinical topics relevant to practice
Scholarly contributions, including authorship, abstract submission, and/or publication of written materials such as: Book chapters, Editorial or opinion pieces, Journal articles
Advanced communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex clinical information clearly and concisely
Demonstrated ability to serve as a liaison among APPs, nursing, ancillary staff, and administrative teams regarding policy, operational, and clinical practice issues
Proven collaboration with senior management on operational and performance initiatives, including the development of plans and programs to improve and integrate APP functions across specialties, departments, and the medical center
Active participation in departmental and divisional meetings and committees
Advanced knowledge of software and specialized applications used by Advanced Practice Providers
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, develop reports, and create actionable plans
Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise teams and manage complex workflows and competing priorities while ensuring high-quality patient care
California furnishing license upon hire as required by specialty
Nurse Practitioner license in State of California (for NP applicant) or Physician Assistant license/certification in the State of California (for PA applicant)
Complete a recognized graduate master's degree program in clinical area of study
Registered Nurse in State of California (for NP applicants)
National Board Certification in profession if engaged in clinical practice - ACNP-BC, AGACNP-BC, ACNPC-AG, ACNPC, AGNP-C, ANP-C, FNP-C, FNP-BC BRN furnishing license and DEA license if engaged in clinical practice
Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) License – including Schedule II
Current AHA BLS

Preferred

Doctorate or PhD
Advanced experience in clinical specialty supervising APPs
Advanced knowledge of legislative issues affecting advanced practice providers
Ability to organize operations and implement initiatives
Demonstrated knowledge of state and national regulatory requirements
Strong operational management skills
Excellent leadership, fiscal, and operational management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, management, and staff from all disciplines. Ability to create and maintain a goal-oriented climate of teamwork, collaboration, and consistent achievement of objectives
