CAA Development Manager
Asian Americans for Civil Rights & Equality (AACRE) is dedicated to protecting the civil rights of Asian Americans and advancing multiracial democracy. The Development Manager plays a key role in advancing CAA’s fundraising goals by managing donor relationships, organizing events, and overseeing donor communications and operations.
Responsibilities
Build and maintain a strong donor pipeline by identifying, cultivating and stewarding individual donors
Collaborate with team members and leadership to develop programming and tailored strategies to engage and retain supporters
Perform prospect research and donor analysis to inform fundraising strategies
Develop compelling narratives and messaging to support fundraising campaigns and donor outreach
Partner with communications staff to ensure fundraising materials align with CAA’s messaging and brand
Manage quarterly fundraising campaign appeal plans through multimedia channels (mail, email, social)
Oversee the development of donor-facing materials and assets including appeals, acknowledgements, impact updates, and donor outreach
Manage the planning and execution of in person and virtual development events including donor cultivation and stewardship events
Source and hire vendors as needed for events
Oversee logistics, vendors, volunteers, and staff participation to ensure successful events
Manage and track budgets, expenses, and revenues related to events
Oversee timely donor acknowledgement and stewardship communications
Ensure accuracy and integrity of donor records through regular data hygiene and reporting
Collaborate with the AACRE Capacity team to ensure smooth gift processing and donor documentation
Track fundraising metrics, providing regular updates and reports to the Development Director and senior leadership
Oversee and manage the CAA Development Coordinator, including assigning and directing work, setting clear expectations, providing guidance and coaching, identifying training needs, offering regular feedback and ensuring team members meet their objectives and deadlines
Manage team members’ professional development plans, conduct performance evaluations, make recommendations for corrective counseling if necessary, and address conflicts
Foster regular communication and collaboration among team members and establish processes that allow for direct feedback and positive team work
Perform administrative duties as required for position
Perform other development and fundraising duties as assigned to support the overall mission of the organization
Contribute to a positive work environment in alignment with organizational values
Qualification
Required
3-5 years experience in fundraising, development and/or donor relations preferably in a nonprofit setting
Proven track record in successfully managing fundraising campaigns and donor cultivation programs
Excellent written and verbal communications skills, including donor-facing writing such as appeals, acknowledgement letters and annual reports
Experience managing a donor database/CRM and utilizing other fundraising tools
Ability to track, analyze and report on fundraising metrics
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with donors, board members, volunteers, and staff
Sound judgment and discretion in handling confidential or sensitive information
Commitment to CAA's mission, values, and equity principles
Based in the San Francisco Bay Area and able to work in person for meetings, gatherings, or events, as needed
