Lead Energy Management Technician
Baylor College of Medicine is seeking a Lead Energy Management Technician to oversee the campus-wide Building Automation Systems (BAS). The role involves maintaining and optimizing HVAC control systems, collaborating with engineering teams, and providing technical support and training to staff.

Responsibilities
Performs maintenance, service, and installations of all building Automation Systems (BAS) throughout the College
Supports the performance of the HVAC system, including, but not limited to, building controls, boiler controls, chiller controls, and airflow pressurization
Troubleshoots and repairs HVAC control systems and components
Collaborates with engineering teams to design and implement control strategies
Performs System testing and commissioning to ensure proper operation
Uses Johnson “Metasys” and Siemens “Desigo” software and hardware in computers and microprocessors for system troubleshooting, adjustment, and repair
Performs database unloads and downloads to provide DDC controllers with current programs
Manages and optimizes energy consumption within the facility by monitoring the energy usage of key pieces of equipment, and devise methods to reduce power consumption
Maintains and troubleshoots multiple control systems and components, including PLC/PC controllers, BacNet, Ethernet IPv4, LAN and WAN (IT) networks, and ABB VFD’s
Estimates job costs and develop BAS-related controls solutions. Develops accurate MTO for necessary components and procure needed supplies
Monitors controls-related inventory and supplies and orders replenishment
Provides technical direction and training to other energy management employees
Required to provide once a month 'on-call' 24-hour availability to assist central plant boiler operating personnel with troubleshooting and diagnostic support of BAS issues
Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
High School diploma or GED
Six years of relevant experience
Proficiency in Johnson and Siemens BAS programming and HVAC control systems
Valid Texas driver's license and clean driving record
Preferred
BAS programming certification (Siemens and Johnson Controls)
Strong understanding of HVAC mechanical systems and electrical schematics
Familiarity with Trane chiller controls and steam boiler automation
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
Ability to program and troubleshoot variable frequency drives for AC 3-phase motors
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
