Lead Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist - MRI
The Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a Lead Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist specializing in MRI. The Lead Technologist is responsible for the daily operations, coordination, and performance of MRI exams, ensuring high-quality exam results and patient satisfaction through collaboration with various medical staff.

Responsibilities
Performs routine and complex MRI exams of the head, neck, spine and body imaging, both with and without contrast
Has expert specialized knowledge on MRI safety, equipment, supplies and techniques required to obtain diagnostic exams so that proper diagnosis and treatment may be effectuated
Performs general radiology exams and will participate in the implementation of performance improvement activities to enhance the overall quality of care delivered
Coordinate and assist with highly specialized exams and utilize expertise, in a manner to optimize exam times while maintaining flexibility for emergency cases, this requires the ability and knowledge to prioritize scheduled patients as well as the ability to accommodate the emergency patients
Responsible for the accurate recording of workload through VISTA registration and case editing, including updating of CPT codes and procedures and protocols. Ensures completion of information associated with the examination, including but not limited to CPRS, IMED consent, scanning documents, and archival of image data on appropriate medium and to PACs
Prepares contrast materials that are used for various exams
Responsible for safely and accurately loading, operating and maintaining the power injector and performing IV start for IV access on contrast exams using aseptic technique
Functions as the backup for the MRSO to include researching implants and devices and conferring with the MRMD or MRSE on safety and scan parameters. This may also include oversight of the quarterly MRI Safety meeting, minutes and reporting to The Environment of Care Committee (EOC), in the absence of the MRSO
Qualification
Required
U.S. Citizenship
Certification in general radiologic technology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology, Radiography (ARRT) (R)
Advanced ARRT certification for assignments that include computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), or Mammography (M) duties performed independently, as applicable
Completion of a full-time training course of at least 24 months in duration in a post-high school diagnostic radiologic technology program, evidenced by a certificate or an associate degree, accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) or from other accrediting agencies as recognized by the Department of Education (DOE)
Proficient in written and spoken English
Must pass pre-employment physical examination
Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP)
Must complete all application requirements detailed in the 'Required Documents' section of this announcement
At least one year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level directly related to the position being filled that demonstrates the clinical competencies described at that level
Preferred
3 years minimum work experience in MRI
