Team Georgia Careers is part of the Transportation, Georgia Department of - GDOT, and they are seeking an Administrative Assistant. The role involves performing a variety of office administration duties, assisting with project coordination, and providing support functions within the organization.

Government Administration

Responsibilities

Under general supervision, performs a wide range of office administration duties for assigned functions or program areas, duties may be complex in nature and may involve access to confidential information
May research, investigate, and/or resolve program data or issues
Drafts documentation, reports, or presentations
Represents program or unit, provides information and assistance to internal and external customers
Under close-to-general supervision, provides a variety of routine non-clerical general business support functions for an institution, centralized district/regional office, a section/division of an office in an agency or a similar entity
Serve as the district administrative project coordinator under the direction of the Administrative Officer
Assist with state metrics, capital project coordination, human resources responsibilities, legal records, or procurement activities
Other typical support functions include a combination of routine accounting (posting, reconciliation) and/or budget development and monitoring, personnel, and payroll transactions, purchasing and inventory, records management and/or related areas
May supervise a small number of clerical, technical, maintenance or other staff
May serve as an assistant to other higher-level managers

Required

Associate's degree from an accredited college or university AND One year of related experience
Three years of related experience
Experience organizing and coordinating meetings, facilities, and information for staff members
Experience providing assistance and disseminating information to customers
Experience in receiving and responding to verbal communications in an appropriate manner
Communicates effectively with coworkers, supervisors, and other internal or external customers
Ability to communicate accurate information
Committed to providing quality customer service
Displays a high level of effort and commitment toward work and displays high standards of ethical conduct
General knowledge of interrelationships among departments work units
Ability to provide guidance to internal and external customers
Demonstrated ability to do research and prepare reports
Possesses the ability to reason and independently select the appropriate resolution to problems
Ability to manage own time effectively; to adapt quickly to change; to occasionally perform repetitive tasks effectively

Preferred

Bookkeeping and/or accounting related experience
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and PeopleSoft Financials
Experience using electronic time keeping computer programs
Experience using word, excel, and other various computer programs
Experience running reports and queries
Demonstrated knowledge of GDOT policies, processes and procedures
