Responsibilities
Design and execute research using a variety of methods—including literature reviews, interviews, observations, focus groups, surveys, fieldwork, and analysis of existing datasets—selecting approaches appropriate to the research questions and audiences
Plan and analyze quantitative studies, including experimental or quasi-experimental designs when appropriate, to evaluate product, program, or experience effectiveness
Apply statistical techniques (e.g., regression, ANOVA, factor analysis) to analyze large and complex datasets, ensuring data quality, validity, and appropriate interpretation
Synthesize qualitative and quantitative findings into clear, actionable insights that inform product decisions, strategy, and prioritization
Collaborate with cross-functional partners to integrate research findings into decision-making, helping stakeholders understand tradeoffs, uncertainty, and implications
Help shape research strategy by identifying key unanswered questions, advising on measurement approaches and success metrics, and prioritizing research efforts
Consult with internal partners to clarify research needs, recommend appropriate methods, and deliver insights tailored to non-technical audiences
Lead research projects end-to-end, including scoping, planning, documentation, coordination of timelines, and delivery of high-quality outputs
Mentor and support peers in research methods and best practices, contributing to a culture of empathy, curiosity, ethical rigor, and continuous learning
Manage relationships with external research vendors, ensuring methodological quality and alignment with project goals
Support global research initiatives, which may include domestic and international travel to better understand and represent diverse user needs
Qualification
Required
Must be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and currently temple worthy
Master's degree or PhD in a related field (e.g., psychology, sociology, anthropology, cognitive science, instructional design, user experience, statistics, or another social science discipline), or equivalent professional experience
3–7 years of professional research experience (master's +3) applying both quantitative and qualitative methods
Demonstrated experience conducting mixed-methods research in applied, real-world settings
Strong ability to design, execute, and integrate qualitative and quantitative research to answer complex questions
Proficiency in statistical methods (e.g., t-tests, ANOVA, regression, factor analysis) and experience using tools such as SPSS, R, Python, SQL, and business intelligence platforms
Experience with experimental or quasi-experimental designs, defining success metrics, and evaluating outcomes over time
Understanding of sampling strategies, bias, validity, reliability, and ethical considerations—especially in global and cross-cultural research contexts
Ability to interpret complex data, identify meaningful patterns, and provide thoughtful recommendations while navigating ambiguity and competing priorities
Comfort translating research findings into implications for product design, content, or program improvement
Confident leading research sessions (in-person and remote) while creating respectful, engaging environments for participants
Self-directed and organized, able to manage multiple projects, timelines, and stakeholders while maintaining high-quality standards
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings clearly to diverse, non-technical audiences
Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse populations; sensitivity to local contexts and global perspectives
Comfortable using tools such as Microsoft Office Suite, Qualtrics, and other research and analytics platforms to support end-to-end workflows
Preferred
Multilingual fluency and cross-cultural research experience
Candidates with less experience are encouraged to apply and may be considered at a lower grade level
Native or fluent proficiency in a language other than English is highly valued and important for global research efforts
